Zines Project
In the spring of 2010, the YWSC published its very first issue of Speak! The Young Women’s Studies Club Zine, thanks to the hard work of our graduate intern, Jessica Spain. Zines are self-published mini-magazines, usually photocopied and given away for free, and have become a key instrument in women’s organizing, activism, self-expression, and development of non-sexist media.
Our Club members were asked to create their own zine by contributing pages that featured their words, images, imaginations, and insights. Below you can see several example pages from our very first issue. We plan to continue this tradition by publishing many more issues in the future.
