Black History Month
The YWSC explores the rich diversity of its members. Celebrating Black History Month in February is an integral part of this goal, and gives us an opportunity to pay tribute to the many influential black men and women in history.
For this activity, our undergraduate mentors are asked to prepare short presentations about notable African-Americans, which they then perform in front of the Club. In addition to being educational and informative, this activity gives mentors an opportunity to demonstrate the research skills and public speaking abilities that are required of college students. After watching their mentors present, students are also more comfortable and excited to speak in front of the Club themselves.
